Hello, I’m Jesse. I’m a writer, photograher, teacher, mother, fly-by-the-seat-of-my-jeans kinda gal. Tacoma, Washington, is a medium-sized town south of Seattle and is where my brood and I reside. I was born in and grew up in a much gritter version of Tacoma and am glad I stayed to see it begin to shine.
I have degrees in theatre and education, both earned from a small, private university whose loans I will probably never be able to repay in this lifetime.
I'm a mother to three girls who are vastly different and strikingly similiar in the way only siblings are. This is a new thing for me because I grew up as an only child, raised mostly by my dad. Violet, Zoe and Eleanor are teens and pre-teens now and keep life very, exciting.
I teach middle school social studies during the academic year at a school just a few miles away. My students make me a better, more complete person. It’s my students who inspire my highest self: the most patient, most compassionate and most creative parts of me. We have a lot of fun.
I'm a third generation photographer in my family and maintain an active freelance career. An impressive client list is available upon request.
I love people and their stories and, if we were to meet today, I’d want to hear some of yours. We’d likely shake hands upon greeting and hug upon leaving because that’s what stories do: they bring people closer together. That’s the reason I write and photograph my world – those are the platforms that live and breath within my soul. All genres of art do the same thing, just through a different medium.
Thanks for stopping by and feel free to drop me a line for more information about my work, daily rate and commissions.
